The Congress of Mexico City approved reforms to the Planning Law that include a transitory article giving the capital government a deadline of 60 days to reactivate the process of integrating the Institute of Democratic Planning and Prospective. The proposal was presented by the Chairwoman of the Development Planning Commission, Olivia Garza, who stated that the head of government, Clara Brugada, must issue the call to integrate the Selection Committee for the head of this decentralized public organization within that period.
Olivia Garza said: “The City Government already has a deadline to issue the call, it was approved with the consensus of all political forces, we managed to unify criteria and they recognized that there is an urgency to move forward on this issue.” She also highlighted that once the Committee is formed, the call will be made to select the next director of the Institute.
The legislator emphasized the progress made on this matter and noted the change in position of Morena, as well as their commitment to citizen demands. She stressed the importance of respecting gender parity in selecting the new head of the Institute.
The initiative was presented on Thursday before the Full Congress and received unanimous support from all political forces.
